Resistance Power:

The most advantageous characteristics of stainless steel coils is its resistance to heat, water, air and corrosion. If your application requires the maximum level of corrosion resistance, austenitic or duplex alloys are your best options. These alloys include grades such as 304, 304L, 316 and 316L. The austenitic grade is also a perfect choice for better temperature resistance. A grade that contains a large amount of chromium, silicon, nitrogen and other rare earth elements has a better level of temperature resistance, for instance, grade 310. Stainless steel coil grades with high nitrogen levels and low carbon, such as 310, 316, 304, etc. are good options for lower temperature resistance.

Strength of Grade:

If the metal needs to undergo a fabrication procedure like welding, you need to choose the grades that can avoid cracks or intergranular corrosion caused by the fabrication method. For such application, low carbon metal grades like 316, 304L, 347 and 430 are great options.

Tolerance of Heat Treatment:

During the construction of certain structures, stainless steel needs to undergo heat treatment in order to give it a distinct size or shape. For such applications, you need to pick the right grade that can withstand heat treatment without being affected. If the choice of grade is not right, there may be a drastic change in the characteristics of steel after the treatment, which is not the desired result. Ferritic and austenitic grades should be avoided for such stainless steel coil applications. Martensitic and precipitation handling is a better choice.
